Susan R. Peterson founded A-1 Resumes in 1985 in Oyster Bay-East Norwich, Long Island and currently manages all areas of its operation. The primary service provided is the design, editing and composition of resumes, cover letters, personal statements for graduate school as well as promotional letters. Auxiliary services include career counseling for new entrants into the job market as well as for those considering a career change. Several factors distinguish A-1 Resumes from similar businesses of its kind. First, Professor Peterson provides personalized service during office consultations or telephone interviews for clients not on Long Island. Out-of-state clients are easily accommodated by the utilization of fax, credit card, Internet and shipping services. Second, clients need not complete long application forms or prepare a draft of the resume; Professor Peterson designs and edits the entire resume and composes all of its content. Third, all clients receive timely service with most resumes completed on a same-day basis. Finally, any client of A-1 Resumes is ensured of prompt, courteous and confidential treatment. Professor Peterson is an Adjunct Full Professor of Philosophy at Nassau Community College, where she teaches "Introduction to Philosophy," "Logic," and "Medical Ethics." She has also taught at Adelphi University ("Business Ethics" and "Social Issues"), C.W. Post College ("Philosophy of Sports," "Aesthetics," and "Medical Ethics"), Hunter College Graduate School of Social Work ("Social Work Ethics"), New York University and Suffolk Community College. Professor Peterson attended the University of Wisconsin at Madison and the New School College in Manhattan before taking graduate studies at San Francisco State University and the University of Toronto. She is a published author with seventeen academic publications in books and professional journals and served as the Debate Coach at three colleges. Socially, Professor Peterson is a former Choir member and current Vestry Member of Christ Episcopal Church, Oyster Bay. She also serves as a Board Member of the Doubleday-Babcock Senior Center in Oyster Bay and is presently the First Vice President of the Oyster Bay Historical Society. An avid sports fan and culture buff, she is a season subscriber of the New York City Ballet and previously held season seats to the New York Knicks, New York Islanders, and New York Jets. Hailing from Wisconsin, Prof. Peterson is a life-long Packer fan but favors the New York Yankees in baseball. |
